The Mariners and City have something to celebrate after last week's performances for the opening of the season. City took the points against rivals in a controversial derby and Central Coast bravely defeated Brisbane, taking a vital point on the road.

The central coast was impressive despite the fact that the roar has the best of the overall flow of the match. Defensively, they seemed resilient, but they will have to show more attack if they want to become a real threat this season.

Ross McCormack and Tommy Oar have been impressive and are two essential acquisitions for the team. Kalifa Cisse has been a revelation at the back and has saved visitors on many occasions. Mike Mulvey seems to have developed a good attitude and determination early in his tenure and certainly has something on which to rely on the Central Coast.

City was fortunate to have a controversial penalty in its victory over the win but yet watched the best team for long periods of the match.

Bruno Fornaroli was not ready yet but the defense looked organized and firm, with Harrison Delbridge and Bart Shenkeveld at the controls at the back. Ritchie De Laet's debut was impressive, that's the least we can say, and the new man looks like a real star for City on the right.

The depth of the City squad was again highlighted by Riley McGree who scored for the goalkeeper. Despite the controversy in the match, City has confirmed his skills as prime minister and will lose some shots at home and away.

Prediction
I can not go beyond City in this event, even knowing that the Central Coast is at home and that it will bring a strong attitude and increased resistance to the contest. In fact, the more you look at the match, the more a draw seems possible. However, I will stay with City based on the clbad up front who should be able to break a resilient Mariners defense.

Central Coast Mariners 1 – Melbourne City 2.
