Christmas has just finished, but cross-buns are already appearing in Australian supermarkets, sparking negative reactions among some customers.
The images shared on social media show the packages of the traditional Easter candy exhibited in a Coles store in Melbourne yesterday.
The post triggered a number of negative reactions, with many people calling this decision an untimely decision, as Easter will fall on April 21.
"False," wrote one person, while another called the idea of "ridiculous".
Some were less worried, urging people to "calm down".
"It's a people of fruit buns … if people did not buy them, they would not start cooking them."
Coles defended the decision to sell the buns early, saying the customers "do not have enough" and wanted them the day after Christmas.
"We sold millions of bread rolls last January and we are excited to be able to offer our customers new flavors they will be able to feast on, and more to look forward to in 2019," said Freddie Hanbad, head of category Coles in a statement.
Cross buns will be available at the Coles supermarket starting tomorrow.
