Community crying 14-year-old boy killed in Sydney storm

In a heartbreaking article on social media, the mother-in-law of a 14-year-old girl killed in the terrible storm in Sydney spoke of a special bond with her boy.

A community on the upper North Shore of Sydney is in shock because of the popularity of Pennant Hills High School footballer and student Dylan Langhorne, who was declared a victim of a tragic accident at Yesterday shower.

Teenage mother in law, Janda Thompson, spoke about a special relationship with her boy in a message broadcast overnight on social media: "If only I could hold my boy another time, I love you "she said.

"Today was a tragic accident. I will never forget our special bond that we had and you can tell me everything. I love you darling and if you could see the most amazing support we receive today and that you would hate.

"You will always be by my side and I will always say that I have five beautiful beautiful children."

She tagged her fiancé, Shane Langhorne, in the emotional post – saying that he knew that they were "the best parents".

A family friend has opened a page on Gofundme to cover the cost of the teen's funeral. A spokeswoman for Pennant Hills High School said students were upset by the loss of a "darling student."

"We can not begin to explain the rift that has brought to our school and its community," the spokesman said in a statement.

"Our thoughts, hopes and prayers are with family, friends, students and grief teachers.

"If anyone is struggling to cope with such a difficult situation, feel free to ask the help of any of our teachers or advisers (sic). "Pennant Hills High School is a community.

"In these moments, we are not torn apart, we unite and only get closer.

"We will find the strength to go through this incomprehensible period." The Dylan Football Club, Thornleigh Thunder FC, is also directed to social media to offer its condolences.

"With the heaviest heart and the greatest sadness, we humbly offer our deepest condolences to Shane, Janda and the families," wrote a spokesman for the club.

"None of us can understand what he's feeling right now, or start to know what to say or what to do. On your behalf, Thunder Family, we send our / our combined condolences to this foolish moment.

Dylan was one of three victims of yesterday's horror storm.

Tragically, a 40-year-old NSW SES volunteer died "after he collapsed" while he was on duty in Flinders, south of Wollongong.

A third person, who has not yet been identified, also died when their car crashed into a power pole on Old Prospect Rd in South Wentworthville around 7 pm last night.

"This is a tragic event and my deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man," said Minister of Emergency Services Troy Grant in a statement.

"My thoughts and prayers also go to the broader community of emergency services," he added.

Two police officers were also seriously injured when a tree fell on their car in North Ryde.

A policeman was injured in the leg and a policeman was the victim of a concussion. The floodwater began to subside and a warning of severe weather was canceled, although strong gusts remain.
