David Furner is reported to take over Anthony Seibold as coach
of the South Sydney Rabbitohs, despite recently committing to a
move to the English Super League.
Although
Furner signed a lucrative three-year contract with the Leeds Rhinos
in September, he has a get-out clause in his deal.
Furner was set to take the reins at the Rhinos from 2019 through
to the end of the 2021 season.

South Sydney have reportedly given Anthony Seibold until the end
of October to decide whether he will extend his contract beyond the
end of the 2019 season.
It’s likely that Seibold will say no and commit to Brisbane for
2020, leaving South Sydney in a difficult position as to next
season.
Furner’s emergence as a prime candidate comes on top of
suggestions that
Wayne Bennett is very much in the frame.
With Bennett’s future at the Broncos on shaky ground, it’s also
likely that a swap between the two clubs could occur.
However, the
Wide World of Sports was told that the Rabbitohs prefer Furner,
who is their current badistant coach.
Furner also coached the Canberra Raiders between 2009 to 2013,
and was the badistant coach of the Australian Kangaroos for six
years under Tim Sheens.
