It seems like it's been a while since we've had our first look at the famous father's figure, David Harbor, in Mike Mignola's new rendition. Hellboy or heard something important about Lionsgate's upcoming reboot of the beloved franchise. Fortunately, today, this is changing.
In a recent interview with Empire Neil Marshall, director, explained some of the logic behind the studio's decision to take a darker, more adult-oriented approach. Hellboy to differentiate this film from previous incarnations. And the magazine debuted a new image …
Marshall stated that this Hellboy was so soaked in blood (and R-rated) largely because it was the kind of stories that Mignola had originally written:
"It always was:" If in doubt, go back to the source. Some things are pretty sick. More violent and bloodier. We did not do it with handcuffs. "
Although we all liked Ron Perlman's Hellboy, there was a certain degree of lightness that made him a little friendlier than his name indicated. It is interesting to note that Marshall at least partially chose to embody some of the most monstrous elements of the character – which is clear from his much darker and more demonic appearance here.
What's really scary is that Hellboy burst into the halls on April 12, 2019, it will be impossible to look at his barrel chest and not see it as a huge and throbbing heart.
