"Deadwood" Movie Happening at HBO – Variety

HBO officially goes from the front with the movie "Deadwood". The announcement was made by HBO programming president Casey Bloys during the TCA summer press tour on Wednesday.

"All of these people have worked hard to make this happen," said Bloys. "It was a logistical nightmare to bring all of the cast members' schedules together, but here we are – it's green."

Bloys also said the film should begin shooting in October for a spring release date 2019, but added that the date is not "engraved in stone".

This is not the first time Bloys had been questioned about the potential film. Last year, he praised the screenplay of the series's creator, David Milch

"I wanted a script that would be self-sufficient … I'm happy to say that David has totally answered this question. "

HBO fans have been demanding new stories in the world of" Deadwood "since the end of the series in 2006. The drama lasted three seasons and 36 episodes. With many critics considering it as one of the best TV series of all time.The show won 28 Emmy Award nominations during its run, ultimately winning eight.
