Dementia Australia is holding a free community awareness event in Kilkivan on Wednesday 14 November to provide the community with information about dementia.
There is estimated to be more than 82,000 people currently living with dementia in Queensland and more than 3,600 of whom are estimated to live in the federal electorate of Wide Bay.
The amount of people living with dementia in this electorate is expected to increase to more than 7,600 by 2058.
Dementia Australia’s free information session will provide the community with an overview of the impact dementia can have on the individual and their families.
The event will also cover what a dementia-friendly community looks like and how the community can get involved.
To show support for people living with dementia, their families and carers, participants at this event will be invited to sign up and become a Dementia Friend.
