An explosive device was discovered Monday in a mailbox outside the New York residence of billionaire financier George Soros, police said. According to the New York Times, it was allegedly triggered by bomb squad technicians in a nearby wooded area.

Authorities responded to Katonah's home in New York after receiving a call for a suspicious package at approximately 3:45 am, the City of Bedford Police Department said in a statement.
An employee of the residence opened the package, revealing what appeared to be an explosive device. The employee put the package in a forested area and called the authorities, police said.
