Two explosive devices were found in a letter sent to the offices of former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

A US official said that a "functional explosive device" had been discovered at Hillary and in Bill Clinton's New York home.

Officials believe that the explosive is linked to one that was discovered Monday in the compound of billionaire philanthropist, political activist and Democrat supporter George Soros.

The grievor was not allowed to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The explosive device, similar to a homemade bomb, was discovered by a cleaning lady. It was triggered by the leaders of the mine clearance team. The FBI is currently conducting an investigation, ABC News said.

Mr. Soros was denounced by US President Donald Trump and denigrated by the right-wing conspiracy theorists.

Republicans have recently claimed that Democrats, or George Soros, could have financed the caravan of migrants heading to the United States.

The explosive device was found in Mr. Soros's mailbox after Republicans accused him of funding illegal immigration, highlighting the extremism currently driving Mr. Trump's campaign.

During the election campaign in Montana, Mr. Trump said, "A lot of money has been spent on people trying to get to the border on election day because they think it's bad for us. ".

The device was discovered early Wednesday morning at the Clinton home in Chappaqua, New York.

Police in New Castle, NY, which covers the Chappaqua region, said it had helped the FBI, the secret services and Westchester County authorities to "investigate a suspicious package".

"The packages were immediately identified during routine mail check procedures as potentially explosive devices and were properly handled as such," said the Secret Service in a statement. "The beneficiaries did not receive the parcels and were not likely to receive them."

Hillary Clinton was campaigning for the Democrats in Florida and was not at the family's family home in New York when the suspicious package that was sent to her was seized by the secret service.

Bill Clinton was at his home in Chappaqua, New York, when the parcel was intercepted in a Westchester County, New York center, according to someone close to his schedule who requested l & # 39; anonymity.

The secret services said the package was identified during the mail filtering process and the Clinton were not likely to receive it.

On Wednesday morning, potential explosive devices were also sent to the CNN offices in New York, located at 10 Columbus Circle, Time Warner Center.

The NYPD intercepted a suspicious package in the mailroom.

As a precaution, the police group and bombing teams evacuated the building and moved its occupants as far away as possible. Fire engines and ambulances are parked nearby.

Donald Trump has frequently called CNN "false news" because of his reports, critical of his administration.

The authorities are currently investigating whether there is a link between the five explosive devices.

John Miller, the Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism, is currently on the scene.

The White House issued a statement condemning the attempts to attack Mr. Obama and the Clintons.

"These acts of terrorism are heinous, and any responsible will be held responsible to the fullest extent permitted by law," said White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

"The secret services of the United States and other law enforcement agencies are investigating and taking all appropriate measures to protect those threatened by these cowards," she added.

CNN said a suspicious package containing a homemade bomb had been sent to the White House and intercepted at the Bolling Common Base in Washington, DC, but this report was retracted to be false.
