George Clooney was briefly hospitalized in Italy on Tuesday after his scooter collided with a car
Actor 57 years old was driving a scooter in Olbia on the "Sardinia Island" when a Mercedes crossed its path and caused a collision, throwing Clooney on top of its scooter, according to the Associated Press. He was taken to Olbia hospital, but his injuries were not serious and he was released. "George has been cared for and released from an Olbia hospital," said his Stan Rosenfield representative to USA TODAY: "He is recovering at home and will be fine."
The surveillance video of the crash was obtained Tuesday evening by the newspaper Corriere della Sera, reports AP. It shows a blue Mercedes turning in oncoming traffic, apparently to turn into a residential complex near Olbia.
The video shows what would be Clooney's scooter crashing into the car while another scooter next to it could turn around. A character who appears to be Clooney is thrown on the front of his bike and in the air before landing on the asphalt, where the driver of the car and other witnesses come to help.
Clooney is filming a "Catch-22" miniseries that will shoot on Hulu, based on the 1961 Joseph Heller novel that was also turned into a 1970 film.
Clooney will represent Colonel Cathcart ( played by Martin Balsam in the film), starring Clooney since he left NBC's ER in 1999. He will also lead the series with his production partner Grant Heslov
