Intelligent badistants are supposed to be smart to help us be more productive, but they have stayed so far below that. They have not yet reached a point where we can trust them with our schedules, appointments and routines, knowing that they will take action at the right time. Google Assistant has gone one step further toward this goal with the rollout of routines programmed for Google Home. That's if you are lucky enough to live in the United States.
Google launched Routines in March as a way to group some actions together under a trigger phrase. There was a problem, though. You could only use Google-provided phrases, which were virtually limited to morning and evening routines.
A few weeks later, Google handled claims by implementing custom routines that allowed you to configure arbitrary commands to use to trigger these routines. Although it definitely is an improvement, users still have to express what they want or need. That is, they remember it.
Planned routines remove this rather arbitrary limitation. You can now define what time of day and which days you want the routines to run. And in case you have multiple Google Home, you can also select which speaker should do it. Now you no longer have to worry about turning off the lights or groggy asking the Google Assistant for your day's agenda.
Google definitely improves its capabilities of intelligent badistant, but a large majority of users still feel abandoned. The custom routines and this new feature of programmed routines are still unavailable outside the United States, making it difficult for users from other regions to enjoy and benefit from the AI AI. the Google Assistant.
