Demi Lovato has taken an important step in its sobriety.
The singer's mother, Dianna De La Garza, said her daughter was sober for 90 days during an appearance in Maria Menounos' show, Sirius XM, on Friday.
"Yes, she has 90 days and I could not be more grateful or proud of her, because addiction is a disease, it's a job," said La Garza, 56, about Lovato, 26. years.
"It's very difficult, it's not easy and there is no shortcut," she continued, adding that she did not know under what circumstances her daughter's overdose took place last July.

After receiving a call from Kelsey Kershner, then her daughter's badistant, La Garza rushed to the hospital with her elder, Dallas.

Earlier this month, Madison De La Garza, a younger half sister to the singer, said her sister "was doing very well" and that she was still focusing on her sobriety.

On July 24, Lovato was hospitalized following an overdose at her home in Hollywood Hills. She stayed in the hospital for nearly two weeks before being released for treatment.
The former child star has struggled for years against substance abuse, mental illness and eating disorders. In 2010, Lovato started treatment where she sought help for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm and addiction. She relapsed after leaving the treatment center, then entered a sober living center for one year.
Lovato revealed that she had celebrated six years of sobriety in March. Three months later, she said about a recent relapse by releasing her new autobiographical single, "Sober", on June 21.
