A Sydney IT wiz was bailed out after allegedly disbadembling and selling over half a million dollars of high-tech hard drives.
Network expert Christopher W Hawker ordered 31 Snowball storage devices from Amazon. The snowballs are designed to physically transport large amounts of data around the world between the customers who order them and Amazon, without going through the Internet, says the website of the American company.
But Hawker was found on the FBI's radar. NSW police said Thursday
that a joint investigation by the FBI and New South Wales police on cybercrime took them to the eastern suburbs of Sydney.
Hawker, 26 years old He was arrested Wednesday on a Waverley street and charged with theft.
A raid on his home in Bronte revealed that 30 devices were being skinned, police said.
