Quick test Peter Siddle helped spark a Victorian response in their clash between JLT Sheffield Shield and Queensland in Gabba.
Siddle claimed 4-62 as visitors grabbed Bulls for 271 – with a total lead of 104 – by the second day's tea.
Queensland had a cruising speed of Wednesday at 2-162 before the dismissal of former Joe Burns test worker at 96 triggered a collapse.
The Bulls at one stage lost 5-44 and Siddle took two wickets in three balls before getting rid of the 47th Test winner Marnus Labuschagne led the hosts to a very useful first run.
Eager to make a point after being forgotten for the first test next week against India, Labuschagne had a life on April 18 after being dropped by goaltender Seb Gotch of James Pattinson (1-52).
First test-team member Siddle worked hard on the green bridge and trapped Charlie Hemphrey in front for 34 before bowler Jack Wildermuth played two balls later to make the hosts tremble.
He also played Bulls captain James Peirson three times before ending the round when Mitch Swepson was caught.
Scott Boland (3-50) grabbed Burns' prized scalp, ending his impressive shot of 118 balls at seven and four.
Chris Tremain, member of the evaluation team, finished with 2-58.
Queensland resumed Wednesday at 2-120 after routing visitors to 167 with captain Peter Handscomb, hitting an 81 and testman Aaron Finch, making the 50 in front of No. 3.
Six of the 14 players from Australia's first test team play in Gabba Shield's shock.
