The Australian Government has appointed Mr. Stephen Byron and renamed Ms. Maureen Plavsic as part-time members of the National Museum Board of Australia for a three-year term.

Mr. Byron has been General Manager of Canberra Airport since 1998. He is currently President of Canberra High School and a member of the Snow Foundation and Canberra Convention Bureau.

Mr. Byron previously held positions in the Tourism and Transportation Forum and was a member of the ACT Division of the Property Council of Australia.

Mr. Byron's extensive management and commercial experience will greatly benefit the Board.

Ms. Plavsic brings more than 30 years of media, marketing and advertising experience to the former CEO position and Executive Director of Seven Network Limited.

Ms. Plavsic is currently the Non-Executive Director of Bestest Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization for children. She has also served as a director of Pacific Brands and Macquarie Radio Network, a board member of Opera Australia and a trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria.

The NMA preserves Australia's social history by exploring key issues, people and events that have shaped the country.

The NMA Board is responsible for the overall performance of the museum, including setting strategic direction and management objectives.
