The star was in his hometown Wednesday, when he dropped a hint on the concert during a Q & A session at his old school, now Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (Lipa).
He told Pulp en Ontman Jarvis Cocker, who was the host of the event: "We are playing at the Echo Arena in December but the thing is that we have also, tomorrow, a little secret concert somewhere in Liverpool. "
During the session, held in an auditorium named after Sir Paul, he paid tribute to his fellow travelers when he was asked about the best musicians he had worked with.
He said, "Of all the people I worked with, it was the Beatles, it would be John, who was rather cool, and George and Ringo.
"Having worked with John individually, I could see his brilliance before the world."
After taking questions to Lipa students, who was founded by Sir Paul, played a set with his band on stage
Tickets for Thursday's concert are limited to one per person and a photo ID will be required.
