McLaughlin: Van Gisbergen raises issues of departure

Scott McLaughlin said that Shane van Gisbergen's departures to the Queensland Raceway were a "clbad above everyone else" and that there was work to be done.

The two best drivers in the championship, McLaughlin and van Gisbergen, took second place, winning respectively on Saturday and Sunday.

Van Gisbergen's Saturday podium was set by an opening lap of the eighth in the first round, then he returned from McLaughlin to the lead on Sunday from outside. While Van Gisbergen attributes the recent changes to his Commodore Red Bull HRT, McLaughlin – who had a difficult start in 2017 but was better this year – says improvements are needed

"Obviously, they made a jump into this area with a few things that they put on the car.

"We need to think about what we need to do and improve, because he was in a clbad above everyone this weekend, especially in this first part."

Van Gisbergen's two launches were key, shooting well away from McLaughlin before the pair
