It comes after the pregnant Duchess of Susbad repeatedly broke the Queen’s rule and ditched her bad stockings while on Royal Tour with her husband Prince Harry. But now back in London, Meghan Markle decided to follow the Queen’s tights policy for royal women during her first Remembrance Day commemorations as a member of the Royal Family. The mother-to-be looked radiant in a stunning black Stella McCartney coat dress, which had a fitted black ribbon she tied around her growing bump. But Meghan’s decision to wear tights sparked an online debate on Twitter, with users criticising the “glaring” hosiery following her appearance at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance to mark 100 years since the end of World War 1
One wrote: “Meghan re-wearing her fab Stella McCartney coat from Cardiff visit, but I cannot get over the glare of these tights”.
Another posted a face-palm emoji, alongside the caption: “Meghan’s tights.”
While others were quick to notice a stain, which could have been splashes of rain, on Meghan’s stockings.
Another said: “What has happened to #MeghanMarkle tights? Has she spilt her wine?”
Royal women are expected to bare less flesh at public events and tights are generally recommended.
It is reported to be an unwritten rule in the Royal Family that royal women must wear bad tights to public events.
Wearing tights is apparently the Queen’s “only rule”, with Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, always adhering to the rule when out in public.
The Queen’s royal rule was revealed by royal expert Victoria Arbiter in an interview with Insider magazine.
She said: “You never see a royal without their bad stockings.
“I would say that’s really the only hard, steadfast rule in terms of what the Queen requires.”
