more power and faster than ever

The sound of Porsche purists becomes almost as distinctive as the sound of the brand's famous 911 sports car. Porsche fans insist that every new model is available.

However, if history is a guide, the new 911 eighth generation will become the most popular iteration to date, due to the growing number of people around the world who can afford it.

Both familiar and completely new, the 911 was unveiled at the Los Angeles auto show. The hedges were released while the 911 totaled one million sales worldwide after 55 years.

The 911 may conjure up images of German highways at unlimited speed – and it remains refined for these conditions – but for all the gadgets of the new model, we can thank China, Porsche's biggest market since 2015 .

The sneaky silhouette formula and powerful engine on the back has not changed.

As with all previous models, the new generation 911 promises to push back the laws of physics.

It has the key factors that concern Porsche owners – and dreamers -: more power and faster acceleration.

Porsche reduced the claimed time from almost 0 to 100 km / h by almost a half-second, a feat of size when the initial time was so low.

The Carrera S is comfortably a car under four seconds, recording 3.7 seconds back and 3.6 in AWD. It was not so long ago, such a performance was the exclusive preserve of the supercars of one million dollars.

Of course, the new 911 is not just about speed. Today's Porsche customers also want the very latest in comfort.

To this end, the standard rate now includes a 10.9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto and integrated navigation with real-time traffic updates.

The group of recessed instruments and the simple but elegant design of the dashboard would have been inspired by the 911s of the 1970s.

In what, according to Porsche, is a world first, it has developed a "wet" driving mode that "detects water on the road, conditions the control systems accordingly and warns the driver, who can then configure the vehicle so that it gives special importance to safety, by simply pressing a button or using the mode selector on the steering wheel ".

The standard warning and braking badistance detects the risk of collision with moving objects and triggers emergency braking if necessary.

The night vision badistant uses a thermal imaging camera that helps identify pedestrians, cyclists and wild animals at night. Hopefully better performance than the night vision systems of other groups. The technology itself can be a distraction when the driver should actually look at the road.

In the Carrera S, the "boxer" six-cylinder turbo gets a peak power of 22 kW to 331 kW.

Torque and displacement figures have not yet been released and, according to limited figures provided by Porsche, the size of the new model has not increased much.

The price has, however. The Carrera S will cost between $ 265,000 and the 911 Carrera 4S, $ 281,100 plus on-road expenses, an increase of approximately $ 10,000 each.

According to Porsche, the new models can be ordered now and are expected in Australia between March and June.
