Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho refused to answer the question of whether he would be confident for the Premier League title next season without further additions to his team.
United came in second, 19 points behind Manchester City champions, and has since signed three players – midfielder Fred, back Diogo Dalot and goaltender Lee Grant.
When the question about his team and the next tough season was asked him Tuesday at a press conference in Los Angeles, Mourinho replied, "I do not answer your question."
Earlier on Tuesday, the Portuguese had been quoted in an interview with ESPN. signatures that he would like: "I would like to have two other players."
He also said, "One thing is what I want, another thing is what will happen."
United, who faces AC Milan in the third game of his pre-season tour to the United States on Wednesday, currently has several players on hold after the World Cup.
At the press conference, Mourinho was informed that some of United's rivals had a similar situation to deal with.
And he replied, "If you look at the Chelsea and Liverpool players in pre-season, especially those two Arsenal teams as well, I think if you compare you see the difference in the situation.
"Man City and Tottenham are in the same situation as us."
He added: "I'm happy with the evolution of the matches (on the circuit), but I do not have the players to work.
"I do not have the majority of the players that will be in the team on August 9th when the market will be closed and we can make it official for the season, so of course I'm not happy , to have just a few players. "
Mourinho also said at the press conference, whose footage was shown on Sky Sports News, that "the situation is no wonder" for United in regards to their first two league matches from 2018-1919, Leicester at home on August 10 and Brighton party nine days later.
"When I look at Leicester, if I'm not mistaken, only (Harry) Maguire and (Jamie) Vardy were in the World Cup, the finals, because (Kasper) Schmiechel was, but back sooner ", he said. .
"I think that a team that works for six weeks minimum, with all the players except a central defender and an attacker who can join last week and who will probably be available, I think it's clear, a much better situation for them.
"When I think of Brighton, the second game, I do not think there is a player who does not make a very good pre-season with a lot of games and training all together.
"So, of course, against Leicester and Brighton, the situation is not incredible for us.
"I would say the third game (against Tottenham at home on August 27), playing against a team in a situation similar to that of us, I think that after three weeks, it's okay.
"But for the first two games, we have to fight for points because we need points, which is what we are going to do with the available players."
Mourinho also said that he did not know if defender Marcos Rojo would join the team in the United States, having had "a physical problem".
Mourinho's comments to ESPN on Tuesday also included thoughts on Paul Pogba.
After an unchanging 2017-18 with United, the midfielder impressed by helping France to win the World Cup.
Mourinho said, "I do not think it's up to us to make the most of it,
it's about giving it the best it has to give .
"I think the World Cup is the perfect habitat for a player like him to give [leur] best time. Why? Because it's closed for a month, where he can only think
of football.Where he is with his team on the training camp, completely
isolated from the outside world, where they focus solely on football, where the dimensions
of the game can not than motivate.
"During a season you can have a big match then a smaller match, then a smaller one, then you can lose your concentration, you can lose your concentration, and then a big match again. "
