NICK Kyrgios retired midway through his quarterfinal match against Cameron Norrie at the Atlanta Open with a hip injury.
The second-seeded Australian points 7-5 3-0 after 52 minutes of play when he decided that he could not continue.
Kyrgios saw the coach halfway through the first set but that did not stop the crowd from hooting him out of court in the end.
Kyrgios sometimes seemed uninterested in the competition with his effort at the end of the first run before doubling moderately to give Norrie the first breakaway in the second period.
Matt Ebden will fly the Australian flag In the last four minutes, he only needed 71 minutes to defeat Marcos Baghdatis.
The world number 55 beat the Cypriots three times to ensure a comfortable 6-3 6-2 win over the former Australian Open finalist. Ebden is in his second semifinal of the year while he's trying to win his first ATP Tour title.
The 30-year-old has not dropped a set in Atlanta, but will face a stern test as he faces John Isner at the top of the standings for a spot in the final.

Ebden was 1 -3 against Isner but won his last meeting in January at the Open of Australia.
"I definitely play better than I was at the beginning of the year, I struggled a bit," said Isner, a four-time champion in Atlanta. "To his credit, he (Ebden) played much better than me that day in Australia, he had the crowd at his side, it helps a lot."

American Ryan Harrison, eighth-seeded, has qualified for a semifinal against Norrie by beating third-seeded South Korean Chung Hyeon 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 7-6 (7-5). "That's exactly what the doctor ordered for me," Harrison said. "It was a bit nervous on the part of both of us at the end."
