You know these beautiful bold colors that were to highlight Material Design? Yes, we have kissed goodbye for a long time and it seems that they could be removed from an additional application on your phone: the Play Store.
Some users have started to see a new Play Store interface that removes the green title and the notification bar, replacing them with a blank one. It also removes the green background behind the What's up section for changelogs and replace it with white. It also removes the gray background behind your evaluation / evaluation of an application and … you guessed it … replace it with white. The only true color addition is a bigger green Install button.
The interface also has many other changes, such as missing maps for similar apps and recommendations, the larger column of text for reviews, some font differences, and the mysterious lack of round indicators for numbers. download, categories, and rating. The latter could be a sign that this user interface is still in development because you can see the empty space where they should be … unless Google makes them completely white. I'm kid, I'm kid. Partially.
Below you will find a series of screenshots of the current interface that I see on my device (left) and what appears on the new design (right). You will be able to feast of the disappearance of the color and the form.
This seems to be a limited server-side test. So we hope that not all users will be able to use it before a member of the design team knows how to add a little color or texture.
Another iteration
The new design of the Play Store seems to reach more and more users in recent months. We have therefore thought to update this message to bring it to your attention. The design also looks a little more complete, with the category and graphics bubbles appearing under the developer's name and developer, and the blank white line below the install button, indicating the number of reviews, the number of downloads and the PG evaluation. We also have a preview (at the center of the screenshot below) of how beta test apps will display. Tip: not a lot of color either. Thank you to everyone who sent this!
I can not say that I am a fan of this design, but it seems more complete than when we first saw it. It is still too white and could use a greater differentiation between all the elements.
More menus and white screens
Another week, another iteration on this design. While I just received the interface shown in the screenshots above for the application pages, other users have started to report a similar interface, but this time for the sidebar (including new shortcuts to open other Google apps), My apps section, The notifications, Wish list, and more. Surprisingly, for those who have the design below, the pages of the application are not transformed into all-white appearance seen above. They remain the same as we have for years. Again, again, again
This white design of the Play Store continues to turn on and off, for some users, to return to the original design for others. This is not yet final, it has not been released to everyone yet, but we continue to receive tips on this, so we have thought of bringing this message to your attention.
One more time
Once again, the redesign of the white Play Store is making waves among users. This last iteration is very similar to what we have covered before, but a bit more refined. A new account screen appears, also white, with horizontal tabs reordered for preferences, Awards, Order history, and Family.
Again, this layout is not accessible to all and will probably appear and disappear several times in the next few months (I now look like a broken disc). Progress is made at each resurgence and there are fewer and fewer screens with the old green look. It seems that we are almost at the stage of redesign.
