The new Samsung smartphone of a technology enthusiast has exploded in his hands.
The South Korean man, who has asked to go there only under the name of Lee, claims that the phone "exploded" in his hands "for no reason".
The report comes three years after Samsung was forced to recall its Galaxy Note 7 devices over exploding batteries.
However, the technology giant is spreading claims that this is a situation of "déjà vu", claiming to have found "external damage" on the phone.
Lee claims that the damage to the outside of the phone was caused by his fall when he started to burn his hands.
"My phone was on the table when it started to smell burnt and the smoke quickly engulfed it," Lee told AFP news agency.
"I had to let it fall to the ground when I touched it because it was very hot."
Lee says that he asked Samsung to refund him the $ 1,200 that he had spent on the phone, but this was denied.
The phone was released in South Korea on April 4th.
It has not yet hit the Australian market.
Samsung has been approached for other comments.
