We were waiting patiently for Nissan to release a next-generation GT-R, and although it's not the R36, taking Italdesign on Godzilla still has a huge appeal. The "limitless GT-R" as it was described by both companies was revealed online at the end of last month and it will be presented to the public later this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
A century of both GT-R and Italdesign, the radically styled supercar is for the moment only a prototype, but the good news is limited to the production series. Bad news? If the green light is given, the GT-R50 will have a starting price of about 900,000 euros, which corresponds to a gross amount of 794,000 euros at the current exchange rate. To put this number in perspective, the 2018 GT-R Nismo starts at £ 150,000.

In addition to having a new look, the GT- R R50 also has more punch than the Nismo version has been taken advantage of thanks to an improved 3.8 liter V6, which has generated an estimated brake power of 710 horsepower and a torque of 575 lb-ft thanks to a pair of GT3 turbochargers larger. As a reminder, the Nismo model must be satisfied with "only" 592 hp and 481 lb-ft. In order to cope with the output hump, the six-speed dual-clutch sequential gearbox has been strengthened and there are also more robust differentials and driveshafts.
If you have the means to buy one, you'll be eager and sign your name on the dotted line considering the plan is to make only 50 cars or even less. Italdesign will be in charge of setting up the GT-R50 and all will be hand-made and tailored to each customer. Both companies are serious about turning the prototype into a production-ready model, as they have set up a website where people can contact Nissan and Italdesign to order.
Meanwhile, the prototype will celebrate its world debut at Goodwood FoS on Thursday, July 12th.
