Flight BA269, from Heathrow to Los Angeles was forced to return to the UK following an engine problem.
It made the return journey off the west coast of Scotland and was forced to defend more than one thousand feet.
The plane, carrying 328 pbadengers and 26 crew members, had left Heathrow at 4.07pm on Tuesday, and was meant to arrive in LA about 10 hours later.
But, an emergency was declared during the early stage of the journey and had to circle Heathrow for more than an hour before it landed.
Arnie and other pbadengers are understood to have stayed overnight in nearby hotels before catching a different flight to the US.
According to The Sun, the 71-year-old Terminator star was said to be “shaken but impressed with the professional BA crew”.
British Airways said “We’re sorry for the delay to our customers’ travel plans.
“The flight is returning to Heathrow due to a minor technical issue.
“Safety is always our very highest priority and our highly trained flight crew will always err on the side of caution.”
Arnold had been spotted enjoying a night out in London the day before the US midterm elections.
He was seen giving fans the thumbs up as he walked out of posho Mayfair club, Annabel’s.
