The biggest upset of the day came in the first match of the Overwatch World Cup at BlizzCon, as the United Kingdom came away with a shocking upset over hometown favorites.
After some badysts predicted that the USA would win it all, Team UK. cam out determined to prove them wrong.
But Team USA was not going to let them go, the Americans took the Ilios, the first map, 2-0.
After that, it was all Team UK with a dominant first point on King's Row to take the map 1-0.
Volkkaya was more than a winner, but eventually, Team UK would come out on top 4-3.
It all came down, appropriately, to Route 66. Team UK captured to the bottom of the table for the USA, who was unable to answer, leading to a 3-2 win for Team UK.
Esports consultant Rod 'Slasher' Breslau summed up the disappointment of Team USA in one short tweet to remind everyone of the country's lack of hardware.
USA and NA has never won a major international Overwatch tournament since the game launched. Zero. # OWWC2018

Team USA fans must be disappointed, Team UK fans must feel like this year is destiny.
With teams like South Korea, China and Canada still in the running, there's a long road ahead for the UK if they want a true Cinderella story.
