Schmeichel arrived at the club shortly after Srivaddhanaprabha badumed the role of president and was part of the team that stunned the sports world by winning the Premier League in 2015-16.
On Monday, it was confirmed that the Thai businessman was one of five people killed in a helicopter crash in front of King Power Stadium after the 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday.
Following this announcement, Schmeichel was among the many players in Leicester to express their distress and sorrow on social media, paying tribute to the memory of the late Srivaddhanaprabha.
The Danish International wrote:
