Using a 180.294 mph fast lap in his No. 3 Chevrolet, Austin Dillon dominated the opening test on Friday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Dillon's Richard Childress Racing teammate Daniel Hemric clocked the second fastest lap, with his No. 8 Chevrolet having a top speed of 180.078 mph. Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin was third overall with his No. 11 Toyota (180,030 km / h), while his teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron of Hendrick Motorsports used the last laps to rank respectively. fourth and fifth place fastest.

Practice leader Dillon was one of 14 drivers who tested the 2019 rule set at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on January 31st and February 1st. Sunday's race marks the first race of 2019 with the full 2019 rules package. The race last weekend in Atlanta featured the majority of package features, but Las Vegas will also use the aero ducts, designed to promote tighter races on speedways longer than one kilometer.
