Austin Mayor Steve Adler apologized on Thursday after reports surfaced that a video warning voters to stay home due to the COVID-19 pandemic was actually filmed while he was on vacation in Mexico.

“I’m sorry I made this trip. It was an error in judgment and I want you to know that I apologize to you,” Adler said in a video statement after taking the puddle from the Texans, with some asking him even to resign for his hypocrisy. .
In the original video post in early November, Adler warned residents that “now is not the time to relax,” but he did not reveal he was on time share after flying in a private jet with eight guests, including immediate and extended family.
The trip to Mexico came a day after Adler hosted a wedding with 20 guests for his daughter at a boutique hotel in Austin.
At the time, Austin was under a Level 3 advisory, recommending no more than 10 people. Adler said he consulted Dr Mark Escott, Austin’s top health authority, and arranged the wedding outside. He said guests had to take a COVID-19 test before attending.

According to KVUE, several wedding attendees flew to Austin from the United States, including the Seattle-based photographer.
“I want you to know that I regret this trip,” Adler said Thursday. “I wouldn’t be traveling now. I haven’t finished Thanksgiving and I won’t be traveling on Christmas and no one should.”
Adler went on to insist that he was not violating any of his own COVID-19 restrictions.
