Those of us who are unfamiliar with the film industry might be wondering: why do movies go where they do it? Sometimes this is due to the fact that you need a certain look or the fact that a certain place of real life must appear in the film. But often, there is a much simpler reason: taxes.
After all, movies can bring prestige, and sometimes money, to the places where they shoot. At a minimum, everyone will stay there for a while, spending money on food, shelter and electricity. As reported by Variety, the Australian government is offering Disney a $ 171.1 million grant to shoot an unnamed Marvel film at Fox Studios Australia, a studio that Disney now owns through its 21st Century Fox acquisition. In addition, there is a fund of $ 7.1 million a year for productions in New South Wales, where the studio is located, which would be added to the grant.
We do not know which film or films are being considered for this grant offer, but it does suggest the future of Marvel Studios, or at least its filming locations. I think it's important to keep in mind how these films are made and where the money that feeds our entertainment behemoths comes from. A surprising amount of tax savings.
