After England’s NHS app backed up a COVID-19 passport last week, the Australian government is doing the same through Express Plus Medicare for its iPhone users. As of now in Australia, anyone who has received two injections of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine is eligible to add a digital certificate to Apple Wallet.
As first spotted by Press at the bottom, Australians only need to download the Express Plus Medicare app, which was recently updated with Apple Wallet support.
According to the website, there are two methods to add the COVID-19 digital certificate to the Apple wallet: the first is to go to my.gov.au, tap “Go to Medicare” in the COVID vaccination status area- 19, then under the PDF link you will find an “Add to Apple Wallet” button.
The other option is to download the Medicare app, log in with your myGov account, tap “Vaccination history” and “View COVID-19 digital certificate”.
The digital certificate contains your name, date of birth, document number, and the date it began to be valid.
“This certificate shows the details of your COVID-19 vaccination as reported in the Australin vaccination record by your vaccination provider.”
With that, Australia is another country to give its citizens easier ways to show that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The European Union also has a ‘COVID passport’ which allows EU citizens to travel through participating countries when they are fully immunized.
