Stories are the new mega-trend on the Instagram social media platform. Young people are more or less forced to document all their experiences: 400 million users use the photo and video stream, which displays content for 24 hours, every day. You have to work hard to get out of the crowd. We will show you the coolest tips and tricks for making stories. Here you will also learn how to navigate the stories of other users and ban the creators of boring stories from your feed while still remaining a follower.
1. Selfie Sticker
Instead of using an emoji, you can use Instagram to illustrate an image or video with your own face. The "Selfie Sticker" hides behind the camera icon in the sticker menu and adds a small image, which is powered by the front camera of the smartphone.

Pretty cool and not yet available in Austria: Stories can also be provided with music in Instagram. If available, individual songs can be added to the pictures via a separate sticker (music notes and "music"). The song then appears as a sticker with the image and title and plays as the followers watch the story. Instagram is setting up its own music database for this reason, which is why the feature is currently limited to a few countries (Germany is already here) and will only be gradually rolled out at the international level.
3. @ -ention sharing
If your own account is marked as @ -ention in another story, you have recently received a direct message and can also add this content of your conversation to your own story. The image or video then appears in the form of a sticker with a link to the original story.
4. Post a text only
If you do not have an ingenious selfie or shocking video at your fingertips, you can also share your thoughts in the Instagram story as text. There is also a separate Type-Mode in the built-in Instagram camera. Text can be created in different fonts and colors and with colored backgrounds.

You may have already noticed that the Instagram camera has a handsfree mode. But what is it for? Very simple: it is not necessary to constantly press the "Record" button while recording a video.

When you look at stories on Instagram, you have the opportunity to move forward, back off and even pause. It works by pressing your finger right or left on the screen (fast-forwarding or rewinding) or holding your finger in the middle of the screen (pause until you raise it again your finger).

You can add not only simple symbols and emojis to stories, but also animated stickers. Just click on the GIF sticker in the sticker menu – this will open a preview of the Giphy animated stickers.

The colors of freehand drawings or text can be customized in Instagram stories. But it's not just predefined colors – users can even set a special color that appears in the image. In addition, there is a "color picker" on the left of the preset colors. It can then be moved to the appropriate position on the screen to select a color. By the way, completely hidden is another way to select an individual color. Prolonged pressure on one of the preset colors opens a color palette.

By the way, deleted after 24 hours: for some time, Instagram has an archive for all the content of the story. Of course, this is only accessible to the creator of the story via the small clock icon in the upper right corner of your own profile. There you can watch every picture and video of your own stories again. There is also a drop down menu above where you can go to the archive of all Instagram posts.
13. Stories in the Browser
To view the articles, you have not necessarily installed any application for some time. Stories are also displayed in the browser, but only in the mobile version on the smartphone or tablet.

18. Add messages to stories
If you find an Instagram photo you would like to share with your friends … it is still possible to take a screenshot or use a third-party application. But Instagram has made at least a small concession: foreign messages can be added directly to Instagram in your own story. It works through the small paper flyer icon for direct messages below each image. The split image then appears as a sticker in your own story and can be further adapted. 19th Emoji Slider
The "Emoji Slider" has become ubiquitous as a sticker in stories. With the slider, you can ask your friends how much they agree or do not like something. By default, the sticker comes with the sincerely-eyed smiley, but you can use any emoji to query different emotions about the content of the story. As soon as friends use the slider, you get a statistic about who gave which answer.
20. Surveys
Those who prefer to compare two concrete options to the Emoji slider can ask their followers the sticker for the survey (or use the Austrian Chatbot Swelly ). On Instagram, a poll can be added to a story via the sticker menu. If you wish, you can formulate a question or simply fill out two options for subscribers. The results of the survey can be seen by sweeping at the corresponding point of his own story.
