Athens Four Balkan countries want to jointly organize the final rounds of the 2030 Football World Cup. Country politicians have officially announced the project. Spain could be a competitor in the application.
The 2030 World Cup is expected to unfold in the Balkans, as officially announced Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his Bulgarian colleague Bojko Borissov. The World Cup will be held with 48 teams in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.
In April, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay announced a joint application. The hall also has a joint application from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Spain also wishes to apply for an orientation towards the World Cup. There are two variants in the conversation: a joint request with Portugal and Morocco, which is preferred by the Spanish RFEF or one of the World Cup goals. The only World Cup in Spain that has taken place so far took place in 1982.
The 2022 World Cup takes place in Qatar, the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The chances of Europe having a chance in 2030 will be opened after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, because the world championships must take place alternately between continents.
From Africa – Morocco had failed for 2026 – there is still no new candidacy. With 48 teams competing in the World Cup, no other country can organize a World Cup itself. The first World Cup in two countries took place in 2002 in South Korea and Japan.
