The first Macbook Pro with retina screen has officially received vintage status. Six years after its introduction, Apple now limits the support of defective hardware for this model.
Apple Macbook Pro 2012 with Retina display is now officially a vintage product that reports "Macrumors". For Apple devices with Vintage Support Status, which usually happens after five years, there is no obligation to provide hardware support or replacement parts for repair.
Authorized Service Providers can no longer submit repair requests and no longer receive original replacement parts, which generally applies to replacement batteries.
The camera with retinal display with a resolution of 1880 x 1800 pixels at 15 inches was the first of its kind in 2012 when it was presented at the Worldwide Developers Conference. This Macbook also had a thinner design than its predecessors because Apple did without the CD drive and the built-in Ethernet port.
For owners of Retina Macbook Pro, everything will remain the same for the moment, at least until nothing breaks. In addition, the new macOS Mojave still works on the device.
