Netflix unlocks the Smart Downloads feature. The previously tested feature has been active on smartphones and tablets since July 10th. Until now, the feature is only available on Android devices. An implementation for iOS should follow soon. Smart downloads are likely to be particularly useful for fans of the series – especially if they often watch on the move. Because the feature automatically deletes previously viewed episodes and downloads the next one. Smart downloads are enabled only in the WLAN. Users do not have to worry about data volumes available on the mobile network.
Especially practical: Automatic removal should always allow sufficient storage capacity on the smartphone or tablet. Gone are the days when long download lists need to be managed. The focus of the new Netflix feature is mainly on the streaming platform series.
If you like, the application will announce by message as soon as the download of a new episode begins – and the download is complete. If you do not want to use the function, you can disable it in the application settings. When disabled, downloads work as usual. The downloaded content must then be deleted manually.
