[ad_1]

WhatsApp says chain letters to the fight: In the future, users should be able to recognize the messages transmitted at first sight. Thus, the Facebook subsidiary responds to information from abroad, where the courier service would have contributed to the dissemination of "false news", with fatal consequences.

False messages or "fake news" are not just a problem on social media. Even the popular WhatsApp email service is regularly haunted by false reports that spread virally. In this country, they are often spam, harmless jokes or chains of letters.

Abroad, however, WhatsApp rumors sometimes have deadly consequences: from India and other Asian countries are reported cases of lynching. should have. There, the population is incited by reports of horror crimes allegedly partly to drive out minorities.

WhatsApp has now responded to reports and complaints and made changes: in the future, forwarded messages should be marked. Text messages, images, videos, and voice messages that have been forwarded receive a corresponding message. This consists of an arrow and the word "retransmitted" or "retransmitted". Thus, the receiver should be able to recognize immediately, if it is a chain of letters possible. To see the clue, you must have installed the latest version of WhatsApp.

WhatsApp backups usually have a size of only a few megabytes. Now in some cases up to 14GB of backup data has been displayed.

Obviously, Messenger is trying to create full backups and does not expect Wi-Fi connection. However, this is apparently affected only the test version of WhatsApp ("Beta"), reports "Giga. of".

False news about doping in Mexico on WhatsApp

The news seems spectacular: under a logo of "Focus" states online "in a WhatsApp message." WM-Hammer !!! The match Germany – Mexico is not marked! Doping suspected Mexico! Germany is second in the group! "

The photo function is delayed

WhatsApp gets new one This feature allows images and videos sent by Messenger to no longer appear in the photo gallery, but startup is delayed.

This "media visibility" is already in the photo gallery. Enable Android version of WhatsApp, but has not been included in the recent update.

This feature is very convenient as it prevents any photo and video from being viewed and saved in your own photo gallery. The new feature can only be enabled for certain chats and groups.

It is not known yet when it will be included in the regular version of the messenger.

Beware of the false draw on WhatsApp

The scammers are trying again to get fake game identification information on WhatsApp. This time, you are promising tickets for amusement parks "Phantasialand" or "Familypark".

The news is currently spreading through WhatsApp, promising free tickets to the Phantasialand or Familypark theme parks. If you receive such a message, delete it immediately. Also warn your contacts because it 's about a fraud.

This is reported by the site "mimikama.at", a private initiative that informs about Internet fraud. Even Fantasy Land warns on its Facebook page before the fake raffle. If you click on the link in the text, you end up on a website that seems to belong to the amusement parks. Users will be invited to send the message to other WhatsApp contacts. In addition, some questions need to be answered.

If you continue here, you end up on another website belonging to a commission program. Tickets will not win at the end. Operators of the fake raffle earn money through such links.

How to recognize incorrect prints?

Basically, healthy mistrust helps to spot the fake game. Example: In both "sweepstakes" the tickets will be drawn according to the WhatsApp message " for the 50th Anniversary ". However, the website indicates that the cards will be awarded " to celebrate our 42nd birthday! "

Another note: Such messages usually have (many) spelling or grammar mistakes incorrect. For example, in the fake Familypark raffle, the site writes: " You are entitled to 5 free tickets!"

What you need to know: Some "raffles" also ask you to enter personal information such as name, address, birth date or email address. Never give this data in any way. Scammers can resell this information. In the best case, the victims receive mbades of emails. In the worst case, it is identity theft and you can buy at your own expense on the Internet

Launch of WhatsApp Alternative in Switzerland

Google, in collaboration with network operators in Switzerland, has developed a possible alternative to WhatsApp . Swisscom plans to offer the service later this year, reports the "NZZ am Sonntag"

The new Messenger is based on the RCS technology. This "Rich Communication Services" is a further development of the SMS service. With RCS, you can send short messages, share photos and videos, share maps and chat in groups and by video. A read receipt, a write flag and a voice transmission are also present.

Google wants to insert the technology in the Android operating system – also in Germany. We had already spoken about it once. The latest version of "Android Messenger" is to support RCS, if the appropriate phone company unblocks this feature. On smartphones from Sony, Huawei and other manufacturers, the application is already installed.

"Android Messages" is also available as a free application in the Play Store. Anyone who wants can also choose the program as a standard application for SMS and RCS. This is possible via the "Settings" menu of the application under "Standard SMS App". Here, "Messages" is selected. The program then supports all necessary parameters and can also import existing text messages.

Samsung continues to equip its devices with a self-developed new application, which RCS also allows.

WhatsApp is retiring from older smartphones

The popular WhatsApp messaging service will no longer be supported on mobile phones with versions Older Android and iOS. But users have enough time to adapt to it.

Official support for obsolete operating systems is not announced until February 1, 2020. Old smartphones with Android operating systems "Gingerbread" (version 2.3.3 to 2.3. 7) and iOS 7 will no longer be supported by WhatsApp.

It could also come before the appointment to the restrictions and the individual function stop, WhatsApp Inc. announcement. As the popular email service continues to evolve, there is no active maintenance for the platforms above.

This is not surprising: the Android version mentioned above, for example, is almost eight years old. There are only a few work devices with this outstanding operating system. According to Google's official statistics, the proportion of Android smartphones running on Gingerbread is only 0.3%. The most common is Android version 6 (Marshmallow), followed by version 7 (Nougat).

Do not miss any digital news: Become a fan on Facebook or follow us on Twitter .

Because a smartphone with an outdated operating system also presents a potential security risk, it is highly recommended to upgrade to a version.

The Apple iOS 7 operating system has long since been replaced. Recently, iOS version 12 was introduced.

Beware of the Knoppers Trap

Again and again, scammers on WhatsApp are trying to obtain user data through false promises. This time, they use Knopper's candy as bait

"I just got a free box of Knoppers, you can also get one by visiting the link, thanks later."

A chain of letters with this message is spreading on WhatsApp. This is reported by the Mimikama website, a private initiative to investigate Internet abuse.

Confectionery manufacturer Storck, which produces Knoppers, has nothing to do with this news. If you click on the link in the text, you end up on a website that looks like Storck. Users will be invited to send the message to other WhatsApp contacts. In addition, some questions need to be answered.

If you continue here, you end up on another website belonging to a commission program. A box of Knoppers wins in the end no. But the operators of the fake raffle earn money through such links. If you receive such a message, it is best to delete it. If you have already submitted the text, you should notify your contacts of the fraud.

How can I protect myself from such a trap?

Basically, a healthy mistrust helps to avoid such a trap. Always ask yourself: can this be correct? In the case of "Knoppers Raffle", the site claims that Knoppers wants to celebrate "50 years". A brief Google search shows but: Knoppers exists in Germany since 1983. The candy is only 35 years old.

Another note: Such texts usually have spelling mistakes. For example, a question on Knoppers' supposed website is: "Do you like cookies? Those who pay attention to the spelling and the facts can protect themselves against fraud.

Also: Some "prints" require the entry of personal data, such as name, address, date of birth or e-mail address. Never give this data in any way. Scammers can resell this information. In the best case, the victims receive mbades of emails. In the worst case, the theft of identity occurs and foreigners can shop on the Internet at their expense.

Group Cats Get New Features

What's New in WhatsApp Next update introduces some changes for group discussions. The courier service apparently copied some features of the competition.

WhatsApp chat administrators can now add group descriptions. Here you can explain the rules, purpose and topics of a group. New participants see the above information in the chat. In addition, administrators can use the new update to specify who can change the image, description, and group name. The founders of a group can no longer be deleted from the discussions. For this, administrators can deprive their users of their administrator status.

There are also new features for group participants: who left a group, can not be added immediately. Those who have been inactive for a long time have an overview of all the messages that concern them by clicking on the new "@" button. Finding new participants makes it easy to find other users in a group.

Some features may also be found in competition, such as the Telegram messaging service. Again, users can search for other members in chats, and administrators have extended rights. The "@ -Button" is similar to an option in Slack. Users can also quickly see unread messages.

In total, up to 256 users can join a group chat. The new features seem to be useful especially for groups with a large number of participants and many chat messages. With new group descriptions, new users can more easily get an overview of what the new group is. This is useful, for example, for group chats for events or hobbies.

If you want to use the new features, all you have to do is update WhatsApp. According to the manufacturer, the update has already been published

WhatsApp: Beware of the messages error

Spammers like to send WhatsApp scams.
