If you want to immerse yourself in the latest adventure world of master spy James Bond, you have to climb high: on the three thousand meter Gaislachkogel in the Ötztal Alps. The multimedia exhibition "007 Elements", which was opened the day before yesterday, is housed in a custom built building inside the mountain.
This spectacular panorama served as a backdrop for the thriller agent 2015 "Spectrum". James Bond must be free from vertigo. The secret agent of his Majesty has been hunting the bad guys in the ice and snow since 1969 – on Mont Blanc, in the Dolomites, in the Bernese Oberland and more recently in the Ötztal Alps in 2015. On the 3056 meter high Gaislachkogel an agent scene scene "Spectrum" was filmed
The original aircraft wreckage, in which the actor Daniel Craig thundered in a haystack in the village of Obertilliach, is now among other objects in the history of Bond Gaislachkogel: the "Golden Gun", the robot "Snooper Dog", the "Omega Watch ". "007 Elements", which according to the operator is the world's tallest museum, is home to no less than one of three Bond exhibits licensed worldwide.
And it's like that: as scouting in search of suitable locations for the "Specter" when they were touring across Europe, they would make several visits to Jakob Falkner. He is the owner and co-owner of the Söldener Bergbahnen, one of the most modern cable cars in the world. The reason for its interest was the post-modern mountain restaurant "ice Q", which the architect of Innsbruck Johann Obermoser had placed on the Gaislachkogel.
A great place for a Bond adventure, Falkner thinks and does everything possible to acquire it in Sölden. The film crew, who approached 500 people, had to be strongly impressed by Obermoser's glbad cube in front of the spectacular mountain panorama. The team quickly transformed the building into the futuristic "Hoffnerklinik" of Bond-Girl dr. Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux).
Falkner ensured that filming went well during the main tourist season, paving the way for an even bigger project: the world of "007 Elements" experience. A spectacular and aesthetic building on an alpine summit with a great visual impact. It houses a "Cinematic Installation" on the subject of James Bond. It was the shared vision of Jakob Falkner, architect Johann Obermoser, Bond's Artistic Director and scenographer Neal Callow, and German film designer Hollywood Tino Schaedler
The Bold Building, Extent on 1300 square meters, comes in a fresh concrete look and has already been praised as an architectural masterpiece. From the winding corridors, visitors can admire the mountain landscapes and shooting locations of "Specter", including the winding glacier road and the "ice Q" restaurant. On sunny days, you can even see the Zugspitze in the north and the Dolomites in the south.
The building, which was custom-made for the permanent exhibition, was completely built in permafrost rock. "It was extremely complicated, both logistically and temporally," recalls Tino Schaedler, who played a key role in implementing the concept of the exhibition. "Up there, you can only build outside the end of April to the end of November.
But last year, it snowed and stormed from September, so the concreting had to be postponed. The weather was so extreme that you could hardly work there. This is why the opening date has been postponed for half a year. Add to that the problems of getting all the materials at 3000 meters altitude. "
Snow suit
The problems are there to be solved, so that the building can only be heated to two degrees because it is directly on a glacier, if you had to raise the room temperature, the permafrost would melt and the foundation would no longer be safe. Most visitors will probably cross the exhibition in snow gear as they are on the slopes anyway. The mountain climate in the building is an elemental part of the design concept.
James Bond presents multimedia in nine archaic halls and chambers. However, the Cinematic installation has so little to do with a clbadic museum that a camel with a needle eye Johann Oberhofer, Tino Schaedler and Neal Callow have designed the world of adventure from the inside out to create sleek, minimalist spaces that look like a place for Bond's legendary creator, Ken Adams. , and even quote the London Underground which housed the MI6 in the last two James Bond films
] The basic concept of the "007 Elements" installation is based on the spatialization of digital images. Say: completely new extracts from Bond movies. In the room "Villaine_SSRqs Lair", for example, a video installation runs on two large screens, in front of two huge mirrors are attached. They reflect what has been shown: central sequences of all Bond mimics from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. Visitors stand in the middle of these projection screens and are approached quite differently than in a cinema. True accessories tend to be the exception because of extreme temperatures.
The "007 Adventure World" is representative of the cinematographic language of the 24 bond bands: each has a sequence of action of opening. A title sequence with the song. The iconic characters James Bond, Miss Moneypenny, Q, the bad guys. Gadgets and cars. Impressive locations and sets. Action sequences At Bond, much is done by hand, for example stunts. In the Tech Lab bring computer-generated special effects to astonishment. A room in each building is dedicated to one aspect of the bond formula. Still in the perspective of the movie "Specter" and in the context of Bond's legacy.
Born in 1972 in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony, Tino Schaedler worked for three years for the architects Daniel Libeskind and Barkow Leibinger in Berlin. He then worked in Hollywood as a film designer, art director and architect. He designed digital sets for big-budget movies like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". Today, Schaedler is the chief designer of his own Los Angeles-based Optimist Inc.
How to become an exclusive Club Bond member? "Sölden is Bond's only stationary museum licensed by Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who produce Bond films with their London-based company EON Productions," says Schaedler. "I collaborated with Tim Burtons, Charlie, and the Chocolate Factory on Johnny Depp in 2004.
I met and became friends with Neal Callow, Artistic Director and Set Designer of Bond's latest films During the filming of "Casino Royale", Neal met his wife, the granddaughter of Albert Broccoli .Neal sent EON Productions, who has the last word on artistic quality, to Sölden , which in turn brought my design company Optimist Inc. "
Schaedler and Callow inducted Sam Mendes to London for an informative film, which is shown in the lobby. Unfortunately, they did not have Daniel Craig, but Naomie Harris, the new actress of Miss Moneypenny, is a narrator
