After the security breach, during which an unknown person has come to know the sensitive data of the clients of the DomainFactory host, the company also informs the old customers of the incident. The wave of information on data theft is still too slow.
Exactly one week ago, we reported data theft on DomainFactory, where an unknown person could theoretically obtain all important customer data due to an error after failover to the database system internal of the company. Until now, DomainFactory has not heard much about the incident, especially the amount of data stolen. It is still not known whether the hacker has accessed all the user data available in the database or not.

However, the company is now reacting with at least a second precautionary measure and now informs its former customers. This is reported by Caschy's blog in reference to the email that was sent to former customers.
The warning to old customers states:
Even though it was not clear initially that there was a risk to previous customers, we now believe that it is possible that your personal information was also seen . For these reasons, as a precaution, we have reset your access to your DomainFactory account, and there is no longer any need for action on your part.
It is possible for someone who has had unauthorized access to your data to use your identity or create direct debits for your bank account or to misuse your information at DomainFactory .
DomainFactory therefore once again advises all current and former customers to keep their bank accounts in memory and to light suspicious charges to the police.

On the provider's website, however, there is always silence about the incident. Public provision should really be different. The client forum, in which the data theft itself had to talk, has been offline for days – it is seen for the moment as a reference to "maintenance work". The company's blog reads only success stories, but not months of open-gaping vulnerability, which theoretically could also use other cyber-criminals. There is not even a scale indicating the number of users likely to be affected. The company reacts only slowly to media requests.
