In the scandal surrounding poor quality vaccines in China, police asked for warrants for arrest against 18 suspects. The Xinhua State News Agency reported on Sunday that they were all employees of Changsheng Life Sciences, including CEO Gao Junfang. There is evidence that Changsheng has made rabies vaccinations illegal.

Already last week, Gao Junfang and other Changsheng employees were detained for questioning. Previously, the Chinese Drug Inspection had accused the company of falsifying documents relating to the manufacture and quality control of vaccines. State officials also reported that Changsheng circulated lower combined vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough injected to more than 200,000 children last year.

Drug scandals or defective foods have a strong explosive political power in China. especially when children are affected. In addition, there is little trust in regulators. Chinese President Xi Jinping demanded an immediate investigation and severe punishment of those responsible after the allegations were known.
