Toyota / Vienna (APA / AFP) – Japanese automaker Toyota is again calling more than 1.6 million vehicles in garages worldwide – this time due to airbag issues. For 1.06 million cars, the airbag control unit needs to be replaced, as announced Thursday. These are the Avensis, Corolla and Corolla Verso models.

How many cars are affected in Austria, remained open for All Saints Thursday for the moment.

In the case of the vehicles in question, it is possible that the airbags are disabled by an error in the airbag control unit or that they are triggered while driving, as announced by Toyota. Owners are therefore contacted and asked to have the airbag control unit replaced. It takes an hour and is free for the customer.

A second reminder concerns 600 000 cars, of which 255 000 in Europe. Here, pbadenger airbags need to be repaired.

The Japanese manufacturer had to recall several vehicles in the workshops several times in recent weeks. Several million hybrid vehicles have been affected.
