Expansion of giant stuffed toy Steiff: The Swabian toy maker also wants to sell furniture from next year.
The furniture is manufactured by the East Westphalian company, Wellemöbel, with which Steiff has entered into a licensing partnership, said Peter Hotz, managing director of Steiff Beteiligungsgesellschaft, the "Welt am Sonntag".
It is furniture for toddlers and babies. With a "teddy look", it should be clear that the pieces come from the legendary lint maker. Initially, the range includes a bed, a wardrobe, a buffet and a changing table.
Until now, the company already produces fashion – another area of activity must now be added. "The fashion industry called Steiff, we proved it, and I think furniture is very good because we are always close to the child," Hotz told the newspaper.
According to reports, there are already 20 Steiff stores in Germany, as well as several branches in major European cities such as Vienna, Zurich or Paris.
