The British is the first person to swim in Britain

British first, the Briton Ross Edgley swam all over Great Britain. Yesterday, after five months on the high seas, he arrived in Margate, in southeastern England, as announced by his sponsor, Red Bull. According to reports, the 33-year-old driver needed 157 days to cover the 2,882-kilometer route.

The project was complicated by icy water, strong currents, storms and encounters with freighters, sharks and jellyfish. Edgley started in Margate on June 1 and swam once clockwise around the British mainland. "So many people have said that this could not be done," said Edgley on his return to the port city.

Up to twelve hours a day in the water

Edgley was accompanied by a sailor Matthew Knight on a catamaran and the record attempt was documented by a video blog. At 33, he swam for up to twelve hours a day, suffered from shoulder pain and rubbed against the skin. To support the torture, he ate more than 640 bananas.

Edgley has already taken part in several absurd record attempts: he ran a marathon, pulling a small 1.4-ton car behind him. He also climbed ropes to the summit of Mount Everest.
