In general, it takes courage to try Michael Jackson's artwork. The King of Pop, who died in 2009 at the age of fifty, is virtually untouchable and inimitable with all his talents, his minutia, his obsession for perfection and his tragic life as a Gesamtkunstwerk.
There are exceptions. South African Dantanio Goodman is such an exception. Visually, it is disappointing and especially vocally good for Michael Jackson for about two hours before being resurrected, and without any Fremdschm attacks in the audience.
On Sunday evening, the musical production of the agency Pbadauer Cofo was performed by the musical "Beat it" at the Brucknerhaus and triumphed with a show starring a brilliant "Michael Jackson" as well as an extraordinary amateur details and details.
Producer Oliver Forster and the management team gave up long pbadages of text. The focus has always been on Jackson's music, and that kind technically "beat it" is a sham – no musical, rather than a numbers review – will have affected anyone in the Brucknerhaus Sustain exhausted.
Scenic artefice
For example, Jackson's mentor, Diana Ross, quietly used the presenter's role. The rest was shown scenic. In the case of his models such as Charlie Chaplin, Marcel Marceau, James Brown or Fred Astaire, we used ingenious artistic pseudonyms, whose silhouettes on a canvas – accompanied by live dance partners – dance in perfect synchronicity. The Jackson Five with the equally wonderful actor of the young Michael Jackson, Koffi Missah, appeared in the colorful power of the flower.
Until it comes. Dantanio Goodman danced, sang, threw off his hat, plunged into the crotch, whirled on the moon and came closer to the original minute. Songs like "Billie Jean", "Dangerous", "Jam", "Thriller", "Beat it" or "Black or White" have merged seamlessly. When Goodman needed a break, the ingenious "Bad" dance ensemble as a beatbox number.
The five-headed group, directed by Anja Arnold with blond hair, very close musically and visually to the guitarist Jennifer Batten, dazzled by Jackson. After the final with a very touching "Earth Song", nothing stopped the audience. Very understandable emotions.
Conclusion: grenzgenial!
