A new wave of fake Twitter accounts, supposedly coming from Tesla's boss, Elon Musk, is currently the short message service that Twitter has created.

As the BBC Broadcaster's website indicates, commercial accounts such as the British fashion chain Matalan and the US publisher Pantheon Books have recently been stolen by criminals.

Twitter accounts were all checked with a blue dot and a white check mark, so they seemed particularly believable. With the tweets now removed, users were asked to pay a small amount of Bitcoin in digital currency, and then receive a larger sum. According to the website "Quartz", scammers have used this scam up to $ 150,000.

With another round, the criminals would have tried the fake tweets of Elon Musk make it even more believable: they hijacked and falsified more accounts that sent positive responses to the fake tweet.

According to the BBC, the first false tweets, allegedly from Musk, have circulated in the short message service since March. These were not so "professional". Moreover, Twitter has "dramatically improved the way they act against these crypto fraudsters," said a spokesman for the BBC.
