Daimler and Bosch want to test their planned transport service with autonomous vehicles in the Californian city of San Jose. The pilot project had already been announced this summer, but the test area has not yet been set. A letter of intent has been signed with the third largest city in California, the two companies announced. Daimler and Bosch themselves develop the necessary hardware and software, from sensor evaluation to sensor data fusion, to infrastructure planning. The neural networks are carefully trained by hand. Bosch is responsible for the components to be specified during development – sensors, actuators and control units. Daimler and Bosch use their respective laboratories and test benches and test sites in Germany.
