The apartment is no longer habitable for a family of seven. City of Villach reacts quickly.
VILLACH. After the devastating fire, a family of seven from Fellach can no longer return home today. Mayor Günther Albel helped spontaneously and provided an urban apartment.
Apartment not usable
"Those who help quickly can help twice," said Abel when he heard about the incident at Fellach. In the nursery of an apartment in a building, a fire broke out this afternoon for reasons still unexplained. "Although our firefighters were very quickly on the scene and were able to prevent the worst, the apartment is still more usable," says the mayor. "We immediately jumped into the breach with an apartment in the town of Villach, so that the family of five young children is not homeless."
No injuries
Fortunately, no one was injured by the fire and the family was able to escape on time. The children's room has been completely destroyed, the remaining furniture is largely unusable.
"We immediately provided accommodation to the municipal councilor responsible for housing, city councilor Erwin Baumann," said Albel. This is located near the destroyed house. "Especially now, before Christmas, it's totally intolerable for a young family to be left alone in front of the ruins of their existence."
For use
Harald Geissler, commander of the main fire station, led the fire-fighting attack, in which the Fellach volunteer fire brigade was also used. Thanks to a professional approach, they were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other apartments. Geissler: "In addition, the tenants complied with our instructions, did not go through the dangerous smoky stairs, but stayed in their secure apartments."
