investigation
: Apple claims that one of the suppliers of its factory has students who have Apple watches built together. This complaint is raised by the organization of labor rights Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior (SACOM) in Hong Kong against the operation of Quanta Computer in Chongqing. Students between the ages of 16 and 19 were forced to work on workbenches and badembly lines during their mandatory internship, breaking the rules, and working overtime.
Apple claims to have examined the Chongqing factory three times between March and June this year, with no evidence of any violation of labor laws or student work. However, the case will be the subject of a new investigation and the work of trainees recruited in September will be examined. Violations of the protection of minors will not be tolerated.
Quanta Computer also denies the allegations of SACOM, but the organization of labor law interviewed on the spot 28 students who work. The online questionnaires were also distributed to various Quanta worker focus groups.
