MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez won his ninth race of the season at the Malaysian Grand Prix yesterday. The Spanish Spanish rider, however, took advantage of the fall of the legendary motorcyclist Valentino Rossi. The Italian took the lead with four laps to go. After the penultimate race of the season in Sepang, the world champions Moto2 and Moto3 are at the rendezvous.
In the second highest category, Francesco Bagnaia was crowned champion prematurely. Runner Kalex, 21, needed a third place to secure the title. In Moto3, the Spanish Jorge Martin on Honda won the World Cup by winning. Italian Marco Bezzecchi, Martin's closest rival, finished fifth in his KTM and has no chance of winning the title. Martin dominated the season with seven wins of the season.
However, the greatest interest of the 104,000 fans of the Sepang International Circuit was MotoGP. Many would have allowed Altstar Rossi to win, it would be the first since 26 races (2017 in Assen). Yamaha rider Rossi pbaded Andrea Iannone (Suzuki) on pole at the start of the lap. He led Marquez to seven tenths before falling in the first corner.
For Marquez, who had already been established as world champion for two races, a well fed. He won in front of his compatriot Alex Rins (Suzuki) and Frenchman Johann Zarco (Yamaha).
The final of the World Motorcycle Championship season will be held on November 18th in Valencia.
