As Bungie announced at the BlizzCon 2018, you are distributing Destiny 2 to all players registered on Blizzard's Battle.net. To get the game for free, players only need one account for the Blizzard platform.
It's happened: In the first round of the BlizzCon 2018, the director of the game, Steve Cotton, appeared in the stream. While the presenters were still eating Lucio-Ohs, Cotton was hiding in the background.
He then took the time to praise the many advances made by Destiny 2 with the 2018 Forsaken extension.
Finally, Cotton announced his surprise and wanted to give each PC player the opportunity to see for himself the progress made by Destiny 2.
Cotton announced that Bungie would give Destiny 2 to every PC-based Battle.net user. You just have to take the game.

But players have to hurry: Players have until November 18 to get their Destiny 2. Then they can keep it forever.
To unlock Destiny 2, players must log in via Battle.net, then claim the game.

This is what players who already have Destiny 2 receive: Anyone who already owns Destiny 2 on the PC will receive a "special birthday emblem", which should be available from December.
Is there Destiny 2 also different on PC? No, Destiny 2 only works on the PC via Battle.net. There is neither a separate launcher nor a Steam version.
The minimum configuration required by Destiny 2 on the PC is as follows:
- Intel Core i3-3250, Intel Pentium G4560 or AMD FX-4350,
- GeForce GTX 660 2G, GTX 1050 2GB or Radeon HD 7850
- 6 GB of RAM
- and 68 GB of free space.
- Internet connection required.
Is there a trap? The gift includes only the base game Destiny 2 – but not the much touted "Forsaken". Bungie is sure to speculate that players will be so convinced of Destiny 2 that they will buy the extension.
But there is no trap in the true sense of the word. Destiny 2 is a game that can be spent hours without expansion.
That puts Bungie on a bonus: To give free players a taste of Forsaken, the flagship Gambit mode will be free for everyone from 9 to 11 November.

After PS4 now also PC: The action is not new. Just a month ago, Destiny 2 was part of PS Plus's free games in September 2018. To play Destiny 2 on PS4 for free, players needed a PS Plus subscription.
Then they could get Destiny 2 and play on their PlayStation 4 forever. Now, a simple account for Battle.net is enough.
