New York After a long and tenacious struggle, the film of the company is sold to him. Former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has finally finished. Lantern Capital, based in Texas, paid about $ 289 million (about 247 million euros) to the movie studio, US media reported Monday.
They want to become a "forward-thinking force in the industry," said Lantern Capital founders Andy Mitchell and Milos Brajovic. The company, which will now be called Lantern Entertainment, has purchased a film library of more than 270 titles, as well as numerous unpublished documents.
Weinstein founded the company The Weinstein Company (TWC) in 2005 with his brother Bob, TWC had many successes, winning Oscars for the films "The King's Speech" and "The Artist", but recently had financial problems.
As a result of Harvey Weinstein's badual badault allegations, the company went bankrupt in March. Of the 140 or so former employees, there are only about 50 left. The sale of the company to another group of investors, which also included the founders of Lantern Capital, had erupted several times, notably because of subsequent debts in the millions
Previously, a number of eminent actors, directors and producers had tried to stop the planned sale. They complained about Weinstein's overdue payments for films and series already produced and doubted Lantern Capital would pay them back. According to media reports, actors include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jake Gyllenhaal, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro, and director Quentin Tarantino.
The first allegations against Weinstein regarding badual badault were made public last fall. They have led the world to make themselves known under the slogan #MeToo movement against badual harbadment.
Weinstein is now charged with multiple badual offenses and released on bail. The 66-year-old man currently has to carry a GPS monitor and lives at home in Connecticut. He needs a permit to leave New York or Connecticut.
Weinstein pleads not guilty. If he is found guilty, he may be sentenced to life imprisonment in the worst case. Another hearing is scheduled for September, but there is still no deadline for a possible trial.
